The long-term impact has major implications in global issues such as climate change, poverty, deforestation, religious conflicts and migration. For these major issues we must develop long-term strategies. In the 'Focused on the Future' Podcast, scientists and stakeholders come together to share perspectives and dialogue on long-term thinking. The conversation begins by sharing a perspective on 'longtermism', from which a stakeholder contributes and poses questions that then prompt discussions with scientists and academics in the field. This collective approach seeks to think critically about the notion of 'longtermism' and the potential for long-term thinking to contribute to equitable solutions.

How to involve citizens at public policy?
How do we involve citizens in key policy issues? In this podcast, experts Sanne Akerboom, Irene Bronsvoort, Robert Dur, Mustapha Seray Bah and Joost Vervoort talk about their inspiring projects and Denise de Ridder and Lars Tummers explain the importance of civic participation. Using key issues such as sustainability, discrimination and corona, these experts show that there is more to engaging citizens in policy than leaflets or participation evenings. We can inspire people to participate in thinking about these difficult issues with games, films, special meeting arrangements or by simply ringing their front doors. Virtual reality can also be used to increase engagement by letting people experience first-hand what it is like to be discriminated against because of origin, age or gender. Or literally placing people in (drawn) cubicles to let them feel what it is like to be excluded and instead feel connected when they come together in the cubicle.
