String Theory Journal Club

The string theory group holds journal clubs on a near weekly basis during the semester to stay up to date on recent literature. 

Journal club consists of a discussion of articles placed on the preprint server within the last week. Paper suggestions are made the week before the club meets. During a discussion, the individual who proposed a paper gives a brief explanation of methods and ideas contained in the new work.

After the discussion a PhD student or postdocs give a short 40 minute talk on either a recent paper placed on the preprint server in their area of interest or on a recent work the speaker participated in.
