Atmospheric Physics and Chemistry
Research in this theme focuses the chemical composition of the atmosphere, the change in its composition due to anthropogenic emissions, and interactions between atmospheric chemistry and the Earth's climate. The group operates a large atmospheric chemistry laboratory, where they develop and use isotope ratio measurement techniques to investigate in detail the production and removal processes of atmospheric constituents. Large part of this work is fieldwork, where samples are collected from all over the globe for subsequent analysis in the laboratory. Computer models of various complexity are used to study cloud-aerosol interaction and global trace gas cycles.
