BBOS Autumn Symposium 2026

The program will start on Wednesday after lunch. The program will end Friday afternoon.

The program will be coordinated into five themes. The theme leader determines the program and assigns poster/oral presentation. So please, contact your theme leader to inquire about possibilities for poster and oral presentation.

A detailed program with presentation titles, descriptions of how to get to our accommodation and other information will be disseminated in early October.

The social program on Thursday evening will be organized by PhD students. 
For this we are looking for people who want to organize the social program. Please let us know if you are interested. 

Thursday afternoon field trips/tours will take place. A separate registration form will be mailed for this, in which you can indicate a preference for an activity. 

This year’s registration for the BBOS autumn symposium will be open before summer holidays start in The Netherlands. PhD candidates are expected to attend the full three-day program. Postdocs and staff members will be asked to indicate a time of arrival and time of departure. 

All PhD-candidates and postdocs are expected to share a room. The registration form asks for your preferred roommate, and we will try to accommodate this request as much as possible. In the event we need to assign you another roommate, you will be notified by e-mail. 

Participants from outside IMAU will be charged a registration fee as explained below. 

Registration deadline: 7 September 2026.

• Cancellation before 1 September: full refund (see 'External PhD candidates and postdocs').
• Cancellation between 1 September – 14 September 2026: the full registration fee will be charged, unless we can facilitate someone else.
• Cancellation after 14 September 2026: no refund.

When you fill in the registration form correctly, you should immediately receive a confirmation email. If not, something went wrong, so please submit the form again.

The registration fee for external PhD candidates and postdocs will be €440. Payments will be collected by payment link, which will be emailed to participants after the registration period ends. This includes a Comfort double room for two nights and all meals. PhD candidates and postdocs are expected to share a room: beds will be placed apart.

By signing up for the BBOS autumn symposium, PhD candidates agree to pay the full fee of €440.

Postdocs are asked to indicate the time of arrival and departure. For postdocs that participate one or two days, the registration fee will be reduced.

The registration fee for staff outside UU/IMAU (single room) will be €580. This includes a deluxe room for two nights and all meals. Staff members are asked to indicate their time of arrival and time of departure. If staff outside the UU/ IMAU participate for one or two days, the registration fee will be reduced accordingly.
