Generative AI

Artificial Intelligence (AI) affects almost all areas of education and research, also within the Freudenthal Institute. Generative AI tools for writing have become widely used in academia and education in a very short time span. As a university, we want to embrace AI: it opens up new opportunities for students and staff, from support in study and work to innovative applications in research.

At the same time, it requires careful considerations: how do we take advantage of the opportunities of AI, while continuing to work responsibly, transparently and safely?

Internal guidelines have been developed for FI staff to facilitate informed conversations between teachers and students about the pros and cons of using such tools in the context of FI teaching programmes. These can be found in the FI Online environment.
