About Embark

We send out Embark tests periodically. Every two weeks, we send out the requested Embark tests. Therefore, it may take 2-3 weeks after placing your order before you receive your Embark test.

We receive a notification from Embark as soon as the results are available. These results are then forwarded to you as soon as possible. This is done by email. Eventually, you will receive an email from Embark at the email address you provided. You can then view the results via your Embark account.

Due to changes in shipping, it is currently difficult for us to estimate how long it will take for the test to arrive in America. We thank you for your understanding regarding this situation.
We will ship the Embark test to America. For more information, see How is the Embark test shipped to America?
After you have completed the Embark test, it can be returned to UVDL/DNA Diagnostiek, Yalelaan 104, 3584 CM Utrecht.
We collect the Embark tests to send them to the United States in bulk. We need a certain number of tests before a bulk shipment can be sent. Your test will therefore not be sent directly to America. At this moment, it is difficult for us to estimate how often a bulk shipment can be sent to America.
After shipment, it takes around 15 working days for the test to be received by Embark. It takes also 2-3 working days to register the test in the system.

You will have received an email from Embark stating that the results are available/that you can create an account. If you log in to Embark with the email address you provided to us, the results should be visible.
When creating an account, you may be asked to create a dog and enter an EM code. This is not necessary. If you go to your overview, your dog should be visible there.
 

Once Embark has received the Embark test, it takes 2-4 weeks to receive the results.

Due to changes in the import regulations for parcels to the United States, the shipment of parcels and packages to the US via PostNL has changed as of 29 August 2025. Shipping via courier is currently expensive (partly due to import costs) and requires customs documentation.
To keep the shipping process simple and affordable for you, we have decided to send the Embark tests to America in bulk via our centre (Expertise Centre for Veterinary Genetics). As a result, it will take longer for you to receive the results.
The cost of this shipment is €7,50 (excluding taxes) and will be included in the invoice. The total cost for Embark is therefore €122,50 (excluding taxes).

Have you never received your Embark test? Or, did you return the Embark test to us more than two months ago and still haven't received your results? Please contact us! 
We can then work with you to determine where your test is in the process. If your Embark test was lost in the post, we will send you a new Embark test. You will not be charged for receiving this additional Embark test.

Currently, our invoices are generated periodically every two months. For this reason, you may not have received the Embark (results) yet, but you may have already received an invoice. It is also possible that you have already received the Embark (results) and will receive the invoice later. In both cases, we kindly request that you pay the invoice as soon as possible.

This is possible, but we request that you let us know as soon as possible. The Embark is activated in your name and the code can only be used once. Therefore, please contact us as soon as possible if you wish to cancel your request. You can do this by emailing DNA_DGK@uu.nl. We will then send you confirmation that your request has been cancelled.

Are you unsure? You can also let us know, so we can wait to activate the Embark and answer any questions you may have.

The cost of Embark is €115 excluding taxes. Shipping the Embark test to the United States costs €7,50 excluding taxes. The total cost of Embark is therefore €122,50 excluding taxes.
 

The package we provide is 'Breed + Health'. This tests which breeds are present in your dog and tests for 250+ genetic health risks. It also looks at the genetic risk factors that are most relevant to your dog's breed. We do not offer any other packages.
