DNA cape – a playful way to inform the broader public on the importance of play for coping

Our project is the realization and utilization of a specially designed DNA cape: a playful way to inform the broader public on the importance of healthy play for better coping. The DNA cape can be worn two-sided, visualizes the concept of “Nature – Nurture” and can be customized by the wearer of the cape.

This is an interdisciplinary collaboration, based on the research of early life play in rodents by dr. Heidi Lesscher, the need from chronically ill patients in the clinic of prof. Jan Willem Gorter and in close collaboration with science communication partner Leonie Kaptein (DNA in Beeld).

The DNA cape will be used in various public activities (eg. Weekend van de Wetenschap).
