Effective September 1, 2024, Ingmar Swart will assume the role of Director at the Debye Institute for Nanomaterials Science, succeeding Allard Mosk, who has served as the Institute’s director since 2021. Ingmar's term will run through 2028.

In his new role as Director, one of Ingmar's first initiatives is to hold consultation meetings with the five research groups within the Institute: Condensed Matter and Interfaces (CMI), Materials Chemistry and Catalysis, Nanophotonics, Physical & Colloid Chemistry, and Soft Condensed Matter & Biophysics. Ingmar is eager to engage with these groups to explore ways to strengthen the "Debye community" and to address the evolving challenges faced by the Institute. Ingmar is a member of the CMI research group. Earlier this year, on April 1, he was appointed as Professor of Experimental Quantum Materials.
