The Debye Institute for Nanomaterials Science was founded in 1989 based on collaborations between chemists and physicists in the areas of solids, surfaces and interfaces.
The central research theme of the Debye Institute is "Nanomaterials for Sustainability".
- To facilitate and promote Physical Chemistry and Chemical Physics research at the highest international level in the Nanomaterials Science areas: Colloids, Catalysis and Nanophotonics.
- To apply this fundamental knowledge to achieve a Sustainable Society with a focus on Solar Energy.
- To provide both master's students and PhD candidates with high-level education, integrating experiments, theory and computer simulations in a multidisciplinary approach.
