Complex Systems Studies is a collaboration between scientists over the boundaries of disciplines, research groups and research institutes. It has been appointed as one of the focus areas of Utrecht University. Complex Systems Studies connects complex societal challenges with theories and models from the natural sciences. Additional to research it strives to educate students in complexity by offering a Master’s profile and summer school.

The collaboration consists of more than 25 research groups and is supported by a steering committee of acknowledged researchers from a broad range of faculties of Utrecht University: Science, Veterinary Medicine, Geosciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Medicine and the Utrecht University School of Economics. Complex Systems studies collaborates with private and public partners like RIVM, TNO and IMC Financial Markets.
