Collaborating with faculties
The faculties of Utrecht University share their knowledge with social partners and the wider public. Various types of partnerships are possible: for example, the university can carry out research commissioned by partners, or can make its lab facilities available for their use. Other examples include arranging media appearances and offering internships.
Utrecht University is a member of several internationally renowned university networks, such as the League of European Research Universities (LERU). In the field of research it has entered into strategic partnerships with UMC Utrecht, TNO and Eindhoven University of Technology.
Major examples of regional collaboration include the founding of UtrechtInc for innovative startups, one of the most successful incubators in the Netherlands, and Utrecht Science Park, home to Utrecht University, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and UMC Utrecht, as well as research institutes such as TNO, Deltares, the Hubrecht Institute and dozens of businesses.
Various bodies in Utrecht provide support to academics in innovation and entrepreneurship. The Utrecht Valorisation Center, for example, provides the connection between the university and the market and offers support related to knowledge transfer (valorisation).
