Onderzoekers die samenwerken
Research in the Veterinary Medicine faculty in collaboration with the University Medical Center Utrecht

Researchers at Utrecht University collaborate intensively with other universities in the Netherlands and beyond, as well as with research institutes, businesses and social institutions. These collaborations result in innovation and economic development and help to solve societal issues.

Utrecht University is a member of several internationally renowned university networks, such as the League of European Research Universities (LERU). In the field of research it has entered into strategic partnerships with UMC Utrecht, TNO and Eindhoven University of Technology.

Major examples of regional collaboration include the founding of UtrechtInc for innovative startups, one of the most successful incubators in the Netherlands, and Utrecht Science Park, home to Utrecht University, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and UMC Utrecht, as well as research institutes such as TNO, Deltares, the Hubrecht Institute and dozens of businesses.

Various bodies in Utrecht provide support to academics in innovation and entrepreneurship. The Utrecht Valorisation Center, for example, provides the connection between the university and the market and offers support related to knowledge transfer (valorisation). Businesses looking to work together with researchers at Utrecht University to find solutions to general or specific problems can also approach a range of institutes within the faculties or elsewhere in the university.
