To develop the Better Wellbeing Index, Utrecht University works closely together with societal partners. As a result, the BWI is becoming an increasingly complete measuring instrument that can be used by various parties for monitoring the broad wellbeing at municipality, region or province levels.

The BWI team welcomes everyone who is interested in cooperation for further development of the BWI, and for the use of the BWI as a measuring instrument.

Developing the BWI indicator

The BWI is continuously being further developed and refined. The present team is currently working with researchers from five faculties within Utrecht University, together with research partners outside the university, in collecting and interpreting data. In the future, the BWI team hopes to extend its collaboration with researchers and external partners.

Monitoring and evaluating wellbeing

The BWI can be used as an independent measuring instrument for monitoring the development of wellbeing in a specific region. This makes the BWI extremely suitable for monitoring and evaluating policy implementations and projects aimed at increasing wellbeing.

BWI+ for tailored measurement

When a project has goals that are more specific than increasing wellbeing in general, the BWI+ can be used. Within the BWI+, not only wellbeing but also the development and interaction of specific indicators are measured. The BWI+ can be adjusted and refined in close consultation with partners.
