• Modules on the Education and Training Platform for Laboratory Animal Science (ETPLAS)
  Repetition and consolidation of European learning objectives in particular, as taught in the laboratory animal science course (including Experimental Design). Free of charge after registration, and upon completion of the e-module you will receive a certificate. Possibly charges apply for the latter.
• E-learning courses from the Enhancing Quality in Preclinical Data (EQIPD) consortium
  Focused on the quality of animal testing.
   

• NORECOPA, Norway's national 3R consensus platform
  This platform collects all information relating to laboratory animal science and the 3Rs, on which a consensus has been reached among experts.  It also provides an overview of education and training opportunities in the context of lifelong learning. This institute has published the PREPARE guideline, which is explained in more detail on the website. In-depth study of these guidelines may be taken into account (without certification). After that, regular application no longer counts as professional development.
• NC3Rs, the British 3Rs platform
  Contains many different sources of information about animal research. They have published the ARRIVE guideline, as well as the experimental design assistant (EDA). The time you need to study the guidelines and apply them for the first time may be counted (without a certificate). After that, regular application or use of ARRIVE or the EDA no longer counts as professional development.
• 3Rs Centre Utrecht
  3R development, close to home. This centre monitors and stimulates innovation in the field of New Approach Methods (NAMs) and the transition to animal-free (xenofree) research. Participation in the activities of this centre counts as professional development.
• DALAS
  This is the Dutch professional association for everyone involved in animal experiments or laboratory animals. It organises various activities, such as theme days and an annual conference. DALAS is also involved in lectures with NCad. In addition, it hosts a number of courses and training programs. Finally, DALAS also has its own journal (Biotechniek) and an online exchange platform, MyDALAS (for members only). Participation in DALAS activities counts as professional development.
• FELASA
  The European Association for Laboratory Animal Science. All activities of this association and its affiliated national associations (including DALAS) are considered potentially relevant. FELASA organises a triennial laboratory animal science conference, but there are also working groups. Participation in the conference or membership of a working group is considered to promote expertise.
• Humane endpoints website
  This website provides information about monitoring the welfare of laboratory animals and identifying humane endpoints. It offers e-learning modules that can be taken in preparation for practical training and count towards professional development. Registration for this website is free of charge.

• NC3Rs Network HUB
  There are networks for sharing improvements in laboratory animal science within specific fields. These are hosted by NC3Rs in the United Kingdom. You can register a number of hours of your efforts as professional development. Currently, there are hubs for oncology, cardiovascular research, and NAMs for risk assessment.

The AWB Utrecht sometimes develops activities to roll out new developments in the field, within the framework of the 3Rs. Attending these activities counts as professional development. 

The AWB assumes that everyone will attend the ‘Getting started’ meeting. The meetings can be found in the calendar on the website. In addition, the AWB regularly organises a tour of various departments, known as the “Tour d'IvD”. Participation in the Tour d'IvD and the kick-off meeting are certified events.

• Responsible research in practice
  An organisation that assists you in conducting robust and reliable research. It is broader than animal experimentation, but is well known for it.
• René Remie Surgical Skills Centre
  A company that specialises in microsurgery training and a leader in this field in the Netherlands. You can follow a skills training course here, but because you also receive theoretical training, you can count part of the hours as professional development training.
