Algorithmic Data Analysis

Analysing all data generated in a single day manually has become impossible.

Never before has the amount of information that is available at our fingertips been as vast as it is today. So much data is continuously generated that analysing a single’s day worth of generated content manually has become impossible.

We focus on automatic extraction of information from data both from a theoretical and an algorithmic point of view. Within this field we have a particular interest in the algorithmic questions in designing information systems that have to deal with large, and ever more quickly growing, amounts of data; with data originating from different sources and stored in different formats (ranging from neatly organized databases to unordered documents on the web).

Our Research

We work on many of the fundamental principles and major bottlenecks in the field like:

  • Fitting search methods
  • Data mining and knowledge discovery
  • The design of algorithmic technologies

Due to the broad application of our research, we collaborate with many data-rich environments and research-fields where information systems for domain research and support have to be devised. Important applications that drive our fundamental research aim at solving problems encountered in, for example, the biomedical domain.

Collaboration

We are always interested in research collaborations on all themes within data analysis and data extraction; both with research institutes as well as companies. Please contact us if you want to discuss opportunities for collaboration.
