Job description

Do you have a passion for social media and would you like to work in higher education? We are looking for a colleague (m/f/x) who can put Utrecht University even more firmly on the map via social media and who knows how to tell a good and distinctive story on social media. You know which news is relevant for which target group and with which content you can reach the right target groups.

You will work closely with the education marketers, colleagues from press relations, internal communications, crisis communications, alumni and external relations and other online colleagues (website managers, online analytics, data analysts, etc.). You will be working in a dynamic team where there is always something to do.
 
Your tasks:

  • You are responsible for the UU corporate social platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and future social accounts), the UU social media strategy and the various channel strategies. You are the first point of contact for social media issues.
  • You manage a driven junior employee social media, a small team of content students, and you play a coordinating role with regard to the activities of the UU corporate Social Media Team.
  • Together with the junior social media employee and the student content team, you manage the corporate Facebook, Instagram and YouTube accounts and fill them with engaging and interactive content.
  • You are in close contact with the owners of the other UU corporate social channels (Twitter and LinkedIn). Together with them you create and monitor the social media content calendar. You meet weekly to see what is going on in the UU community and what could come into play. You coordinate how you, as the social media team, can respond to this.
  • You are involved in project groups dealing with major UU events (Open Days, ceremonial events, but also crisis communication) and play an active role in them.
  • You advise internal stakeholders (internal departments, faculties, study programmes, etc.) about social media and regularly attend team meetings of the other Communication & Marketing departments so that you are well informed and know where questions, opportunities and wishes lie.
  • You create and implement organic and paid social campaigns for the various (student) target groups in cooperation with the online analytics specialist.
  • You give your opinion and vision on how you think the university should use social media and where you see opportunities and risks.

Qualifications

Social media has no secrets for you and you have your own vision on socials. You know how to move in a complex organisation and you enjoy doing so. You do not see problems but challenges and you deal with these proactively. You are a natural leader and a team player, with an eye for internal interests, but especially for the interests of our target groups. You show ownership and give space to others. You are aware of the latest trends and developments, see opportunities and act on them. You know what you can and cannot do on social media and you stand up for it. In short, we are looking for someone who is beyond versatile and multitalented and who does not have a 9-5 mentality.
 
 You have/are:

  • a completed relevant HBO/WO education;
  • a minimum of 5-7 years work experience as a social media manager/coordinator;
  • affinity with higher education and knowledge of our target groups;
  • an extensive and relevant work experience with social media, content creation (photo and video), social monitoring, analytics, dashboarding;
  • experience with social advertising (via Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram, and more);
  • familiar with various types of tooling such as Coosto, Canva, Google Analytics, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere;
  • excellent professional English and Dutch expression skills (both verbal and written);
  • independent, ambitious, creative, visually strong, strategic and not afraid to roll up your sleeves, also outside office hours;
  • experience with agile/scrum working and project management.

Offer

We offer a temporary appointment (1.0 FTE) for the duration of one year with the prospect of a permanent contract. Depending on education and experience, the minimum salary is € 2,846 and the maximum salary is € 4,490 (scale 10 of the collective agreement for Dutch universities) gross per month for full-time employment. You will also receive an 8% holiday allowance and a year-end bonus of 8.3%. The Communication & Marketing (C&M) department of the University Administration Department (UBD) supports the Executive Board and the faculties and services in developing and implementing policy on communication, profiling and educational marketing of the university. Strategy, policy and implementation come together at C&M. The management directs the communication and marketing policy of the university, periodically adjusts it in close cooperation with the faculties and develops new initiatives at the university and faculty level.
