Job description

In this temporary position as an Advisor International Marketing you will implement Utrecht University’s international marketing plan 2022. In this capacity you will focus on attracting and retaining talented international students from diverse backgrounds, together with internal and external stakeholders.

You will work in various project based teams across the university and in a core team of five international marketing communication professionals. You will report to the Head of Marketing. Around 50% of your work can be done remotely, but your weekly office presence is mandatory.

What will you be doing? 

  • implement Utrecht University’s international marketing plan 2022, focused on attracting talented international students from diverse backgrounds;
  • develop improvements to our communication channels to prospective students, including the  website, emails and (online) events;
  • improve the wellbeing, onboarding and arrival of new international students, in collaboration with the internal project manager;
  • maintain and develop relations with internal stakeholders, including the Admissions Office, faculty staff, and colleagues in the Communication Department;
  • maintain and develop relationships with external parties such as education agents, school counsellor networks, online study choice platforms and other service providers;
  • consult on improvements to lead management across multiple CRM systems.


This is you:

  • Bachelor’s degree education, preferably in marketing, communications or a related field;
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar/related role in a large organization;
  • experience in higher education is preferred;
  • experience in an international organization is a plus;
  • excellent English proficiency is required, Dutch proficiency is preferred;
  • a dependable bridge-builder who inspires trust from others;
  • able to keep track of multiple projects and you can (de)prioritize accordingly;
  • a flexible mindset and you understand the dynamics and internal politics of a large organization;
  • a strong communicator, who is able to work effectively in a small, diverse team.


We offer a temporary position (0.8 FTE) for a period of six months. An extension is possible to a maximum of one year. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience  - ranges between €2,836 and €4,474 (scale 10 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year.
