Women in science
The Monitor Women Professors 2016 showed that only 18 % of professors in the Netherlands are women. This is a slight increase of 0.9 % compared to the preceding year. The percentage of female graduates is above 50 %.
On every higher step of the scientific career ladder, women's contribution drastically decreases: from 43 % to 39 % to 26 % of PhD Candidates, Assistant Professors and Associate Professors, respectively. It will take until 2054 before we will have an equal M/F distribution among professors. More numbers regarding the current men-to-women distribution in science according to the Monitor Women Professors 2016 of the Dutch Network of Women Professors (Landelijk Netwerk Vrouwelijke Hoogleraren, LNVH).
