Senaatszaal

The Senaatszaal is located on the 1st floor of the University Hall. It is possible to rent this room for bigger groups and has multiple possible seating layouts.

Seating layout and capacity

• The standard layout for the Senaatszaal is the theater layout, which has room for 80 people.
• The reception layout has room for 175 people, and the dinner layout has room for 132 people.
• Other layout options are available in consultation.

Costs

The half-day rate is €778
The booking costs are exempt from taxes.

Booking costs include LCD displays, microphones, a discussion toolset (in consultation) and WiFi.
It is also possible to rent a piano (Yamaha U1) for an additional fee. The piano will be tuned beforehand. There is an additional fee for costs being made in the weekends, this includes security, cleaning services and emergency response services.

Accessibility

The Senaatszaal is located at the 1st floor of the University Hall and is accessible through the stairs or by elevator. The elevator has a dimension of 90 x 130 cm.

History

Until 1970, the Senaatzaal was a communal space where professors met, chaired by the Rector Magnificus. Topics discussed included education and research, educational facilities, and student affairs. The Senaatzaal was put into use in 1924. The walls of the hall were once again adorned with a portrait gallery of the university's professors. The foundation for the collection was laid in 1685. This series has been continuously expanded, ultimately totaling 185 portraits in the Senaatzaal and over 500 in the University Hall and other university buildings.
