Looking back at the opening of the academic year 2020-2021.

At August 31st, we celebrated the opening of the academic year 2020-2021. On this page we offer the highlights of the programme.

Alum Feike Sijbesma transformed chemical company DSM into the most sustainable company in the industry. How does he envisage the future in times of corona? Our colleague Rosa Falkenburg won the contest to write a new song for our university. Watch the (Dutch) song and enjoy.
Our teachers and students achieve fantastic results. Watch the livestream to see how we put teachers Gerda Andringa and Lorena De Vita in the spotlight, and which of our nominees win the student awards.
The Agnites Vrolik Award, established in 2017, shows that the impact of our research is important and is rewarded. Climate scientist Valérie Masson-Delmotte and professor of social pedagogy Hirokazu Yoshikawa each demonstrate in their own way that science is crucial to tackling issues such as climate change, inequality and immigration. Today they receive an honorary doctorate.
