UCU Scholarship Fund campaign December 2016

Give the gift of a UCU education

University College Utrecht (UCU) has a strong international character; there are more than fifty nationalities among the student population. UCU students bring in diversity with regard to experiences, lifestyles, religions, languages, and social and cultural backgrounds.

A liberal arts vision of education cannot survive if its participants consist almost exclusively of persons with the same cultural or socio-economic background. UCU awards approximately 60 scholarships each year to highly qualified incoming students who would otherwise not be able to afford a UCU education. These scholarships vary from partial scholarships of €3000,- to full scholarships of €17.500,- depending on the financial need of each student. Government subsidies do not cover these costs.

By donating to the UCU Scholarship Fund you can have a direct positive impact on the life of a future student. Your gift is a crucial way of increasing diversity at the college, one of our most important aims. 100% of your gift will be given to a student in need of financial aid.

We can’t make this happen without you!

"I started my studies at UCU with a bit of a different background than my peers, as a political refugee. UCU was the first place where I was just Linda, one among the many, and not the refugee. My studies at UCU together with the financial, curricular and emotional support I received at UCU enabled me concur my fears and traumas while focussing on my studies and passions as well as learn how to meaningfully give back to the continent I had once fled. I hope UCU can continue to be the same safe haven and give the same financial support to students from all over the world and from all backgrounds."
