Sometimes, we get curious about a topic or problem the we encounter in a course or in the world generally, and wish we could spend dedicated time teasing it out, to come to a deeper understanding of it.

At UCU, senior students can do precisely that. We facilitate small group seminars where students explore a topic in depth together, in such a way that they bring their own particular question in to focus, and allow it to be informed by questions on the same topic from other students and from other disciplines.

While the students determine and direct the content, proceedings and assessment, we provide the structure and support that they need. This unique opportunity fosters interdisciplinary insights, and the application of classroom-learning to complex problems. It also allows for interaction between students and experts in the field, and stimulates students to take responsibility for what they learn, how they learn it, and how they apply it.
