Town and Gown strives to promote the values of a global citizen through civic engagement and social work and strengthen ties between UCU and the city of Utrecht and its communities. Town and Gown can provide funding for your project or connect you with the existing running projects.
Town and Gown
Who we are and what we do
Town and Gown is a UCU team which consists of students and staff members including the Dean James Kennedy. The budget that was made available to the team is used to fund projects that are in line with the goals of the initiative:
- promote the values of global citizenship and raise societal awareness through civic engagement and social work;
- strengthen ties between UCU community, the city and other communities in Utrecht.
This is achieved by helping students set up their own projects that connect UCU and the city: brainstorming, networking, funding - we can go through all the steps together and provide you with as much help as we can!
How can you take part in civic engagement
- Set up your own project
Do you have a project plan? Or just a preliminary idea that popped up in your mind? Regardless of the stage of development your idea is in in now, we want to work with you and help you make your idea a reality! Send us a short email with your idea of the project and/or drop by during our office hours (check contact information below).
- Join existing projects
Don’t really have a new project idea, but you still want to take part in social work and civic engagement? Then join the existing projects! Send us an email with your area of interest, CV, preferences, and we will put you in contact with the most relevant people!
If you have a rough image of what you want to do and you need time and help to shape it into something real, just leave it in this form - we will make sure to discuss it and get back to you with some feedback.
