Sustainability is strongly featured in the education and research programmes of Utrecht University. All students of Utrecht University come in contact with sustainability sooner or later. The research contributes to the increasing of knowledge about sustainability and about the problems that are going on right now.
Scientists also actively share this knowledge. Some examples:
- A number of Utrecht-based professors contributed to an open letter to the cabinet, in which they called for a firm sustainability policy.
- Thanks to his scientific contribution to the 2016 climate agreement, Prof Dr Guus Velders is featured in the TIME Magazine Top 100 most influential people.
- Professors Jacqueline Cramer and Klaas van Egmond both earned positions in the Dutch newspaper Trouw's Sustainable Top 100 due to their appreciated roles as experts.
