Bioblitz 2025

From 22 May to 21 June, we invite all UU and HU students and staff to go out and explore and help monitor nature in the Utrecht Science Park (USP) during the Bioblitz 2025. Head out with your smartphone and help map the biodiversity in the USP, or join a nature excursion.

Help collect data

Since 2022, the university has been working on strengthening biodiversity at USP. But how effective are these measures? We want to find out with your help. Everyone can participate!

Go outside with your smartphone and keep your eyes and ears open. Do you spot a plant, animal or fungus? Take a picture with the ObsIdentify app. In this way, together we will create an overview of what species live at USP.

How to install and use the ObsIdentify app

Follow the instructions in the video

If you like, you can join the Bioblitz Signal group, where you can share experiences and special observations. Scan the QR code to join.

Lunch walks

During lunch, join a group outside to map local flora and fauna together. Bring your smartphone and help spot and record as many plant and animal species as possible using the ObsIdentify app. PhD student Petros Constantinides will guide the walk. It is useful if you download the app in advance. You can do so by following these instructions. Registration is not necessary!

Dates:

27 May, 3 June, 10 June and 17 June from 12.15 - 13.00 hours.
