Research on energy transition
By cleverly utilizing social networks, we can encourage more people to contribute to the energy transition. In this study, we explore how this might be possible. Energy coaches, for example, are being used to make it easier and more transparent for people to make their homes more energy-efficient and to make it more insightful in how they can receive support in implementing them. These people could then share this information within their network, such as with neighbors or friends. During this study, we also examine which people have the greatest potential to effectively disseminate information within the network. This depends on the network composition, but also on the likelihood that others in the network will actually adopt the information. In the handbook 'Transitioning Together,' we illustrate in an accessible way, using several studies, how the network can be better utilized. This study was conducted in collaboration with partners including Delft University of Technology and the Municipality of Haarlem.
