Parking in Utrecht Science Park
Visitors and guests can park at Utrecht Science Park (USP). You can park your car at various car parks in the Utrecht Science Park and at P+R Utrecht Science Park.
Visitors and guests must pay to park at Utrecht Science Park. There are several different options available. See the information below for the parking facilities:

- UMC Utrecht Zuid parking garage (1,727 parking spaces);
- Budapestlaan parking facility (135 parking spaces);
- Cambridgelaan parking facility (504 parking spaces);
- Leuvenlaan parking facility (113 parking spaces);
- Padualaan parking facility (419 parking spaces);
- Sorbonnelaan parking facility (613 parking spaces);
- WKZ parking facilities (271 parking spaces);
- Uppsalalaan parking facility (125 parking spaces);
- Veterinary Medicine Clinics parking for patient owners (parking is free of charge for patient owners. Remember to have your parking ticket scanned before you leave the Veterinary Medicine Clinics).
In order to park without paying for a ticket, you need a parking card that is accepted by the Utrecht University parking system. Please ask your organisation’s contact person at the university about the possibility of obtaining a parking card.
The parking fee at UMC Utrecht is € 1.80 per hour (€ 0.30 per 10 minutes). The maximum daily rate is € 18.00. This is also the fee for lost parking tickets. No parking fee will be charged for periods of less than 30 minutes. The fees apply every day of the week, 24 hours per day. A week ticket is also available for € 30.00.
The rates for other university parking facilities are: Monday to Friday from 07:00 - 18:00, € 0.90 per 30 minutes. Parking is free on Saturday, Sunday and Holidays. No charge for parking if you leave the facility within 30 minutes. If you leave the facility after 30 minutes, then the first 30 minutes will be included in the parking fee. The maximum daily rate is € 18.00. This is also the fee for lost parking tickets.
All UU parking facilities are open 24/7.
If you have a parking card that is accepted by the Utrecht University parking system, you can link it to your vehicle registration number. You can link your registration number to your card at any university parking facility payment machine. Please note: you must always carry your parking card with you, even if you have activated your registration number. In the event of a malfunction, you must have some alternative means to pay to enter or exit the parking facility.
You cannot use the Utrecht University parking card to park in the P+R. Employees of the HU, UMCU and UU can request a separate parking card for the P+R at no extra charge via TopDesk.
Utrecht University has its own mobile surveillance service that patrols the parking facilities 24/7. We cannot guarantee 100% security for your car, however, so we recommend that you never leave personal belongings or valuables in your car.
You can change your vehicle registration number at any Utrecht University parking facility payment machine. Simply hold your campus card against the card reader and follow the instructions on the screen.
Utrecht University can grant residents, employees and visitors of Utrecht Science Park with a temporary disability an exemption for the use of an MIVA parking space. To apply for an exemption, send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. You must include a statement by the occupational physician or your own doctor with a confirmation of the disability and an estimate of your expected recovery period. Please note: the exemption is only valid at Utrecht University parking facilities.

Utrecht University’s Science Park is the first campus in the world to facilitate large-scale bi-directional charging – from the grid to the vehicle and vice-versa – of electric vehicles. There are a total of 32 charging stations available for use by UU employees, students and visitors. Charging stations are located at the following parking facilities:
- Cambridgelaan parking garage – 8 charging stations
- Budapestlaan parking facility – 8 charging stations
- Jenalaan parking facility – 8 charging stations
- Sorbonnelaan parking facility – 8 charging stations
There are also a total of 28 charging stations available at the Utrecht Science Park P+R. These charging stations are suitable for any vehicle or charging card. The charging rate is € 0.27 / kWh (excl. VAT). This is in addition to the standard parking fees.

All buildings at Utrecht Science Park have designated loading/unloading areas, as indicated by a traffic sign. If these spaces are occupied or too small, you can contact the hotline by calling 030 253 1300 to ask about alternative loading/unloading areas.
Yes, you may need your card to enter or exit in the event of a malfunction of the number recognition system. If you do not have your campus card with you, then you will have to pay for a parking ticket. You cannot enter or exit the parking facility using the intercom.
You can always call 112 to report suspicious situations. We also recommend that you report the situation to the university helpdesk. The helpdesk is available 24/7 by calling 030 253 1300 or 030 253 4444 for emergencies.
Some parking facilities at Utrecht Science Park are only available for permit holders. That means visitors cannot park in these facilities, and unauthorised vehicles may be clamped.
- Princetonplein parking facility (exclusively for TNO/Deltares permit holders)
- Sorbonnelaan Noord parking facility (exclusively for SRON permit holders)
- Cambridgelaan student complex parking facility (exclusively for residents)
- UMC Utrecht Noord parking garage (exclusively for UMC and CMH employees)
In addition to these large locations, there are also 'loose' parking spaces for permit holders at various buildings. These spaces are specifically intended for suppliers and other contracted parties who need to be able to park a car close to a location in order to carry out their work. Contract, supplier and project managers can request their use from email@example.com.
FSC Security and UMC may clamp the wheels of unauthorised vehicles, and violators will be charged administration fees to remove the clamp. The fee for removing a clamp is € 50.
