Traditionally, every Dutch university has what is known as a Studium Generale (General Studies). On this platform for lectures and debates, leading scientists, academics and thinkers from across all disciplines engage the public in debate about science and society.
Art and culture
Parnassos Culture Centre oganises a range of courses in vaurious art disciplines. It stages its own theatre productions and organises live performances and other cultural events.
The university's Botanic Gardens are located in Utrecht Science Park/De Uithof. The Botanic Gardens are open to the public from 1 March to 1 December.

On Cultural Sundays (six times a year), a number of art disciplines come together to present different sides of a central theme. Utrecht University is partner of the Cultural Sundays and offers a varied cultural programme. This is Utrecht University's way of helping to strengthen Utrecht as a city of knowledge & culture.
