Do(n't) try this...tips & tricks for public engagement
The Center for Science and Culture (CWC) has gained a lot of knowledge and experience in recent years in creating programs and public activities for a general audience. This knowledge is shared through training, mentoring or 1-on-1 contact at events. But sometimes, being a researcher with a warm heart for public engagement, you don't have this knowledge in print when you start engaging a general audience in your research. That's why CWC has now released Do(n't) try this...tips & tricks for public engagement.
Insights and experiences
This publication consists of a collection of elements you can use when designing an activity. Not just “Try it,” but “Don't try it” tips. You will find a mix of insights based on experiences, those of others, and on impact measurements that teach us what works and what does not. Experienced engagers such as leadership scholar Marij Swinkels, sociologist Anouk Keizer and linguist Lisanne van Weelden share their views. The goal is to give you tools for public activities, so that you can make the impact you want in a way that connects well with your audience.
Experiment, try, and learn your own lessons (and share them with others)!
