Zeg Utreg?

Podcast series and table talks with, for and about Utreg

Students face big social questions, which can be fun and exciting, but it can also cause stress and uncertainty. In this lustrum series Zeg Utreg? Utrecht students engage in conversation with researchers, policy makers and alumni about questions that affect them in the areas of sustainability, work and mental health. What does science have to say about these themes? And how did our researchers themselves think about these themes when they were still studying?

When, who, how and what

The six podcast episodes and three table talks are divided into triptychs. So that's three triptychs, and each triptych focuses on one question about sustainability, work or mental health. In terms of structure, each triptych is the same, namely two podcast episodes and one table talk. On this page, you can find all the podcastepisodes and table talks.

Through Zeg Utreg I hope that young students can make their voices heard!

Kennan van Gelder
Medical student and the mind behind Zeg Utreg?

Triptych #1: Sustainability, but at what cost?

We kick off this series with a good conversation about sustainability, how students try to live a sustainable life, and what science has to say about this.

Triptych #2: Work to live, or live to work?

In the second triptych, we talk about work and the fears and prejudices that surround it.

Triptych #3: What heals the troubled mind?

In this final triptych, we're going to talk about mental health, Ritalin, and the science behind (mis)diagnoses. The table discussion on this topic will take place on November 1st.

Collaborations

Zeg Utreg? is made in honor of the lustrum year, during which UMC Utrecht and Utrecht University celebrate 385 years of science. The concept for the podcast series was developed by Kennan van Gelder, a medical student, and was carried out by podcast makers Liz Kruisheer and Astrid Cornelisse of Van Horen Zeggen Audioproducties. The jingle and sound design were provided by Amplifeye, founded by students of the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU). Utrecht Union designed the table talks together with the lustrum project team. Utrecht Union also presents and moderates the table talks.
