Introduction to Entrepreneurial Data Research and Data Ethics, by the Utrecht Data School - Workshop

This workshop will consist of two parts. Firstly, you'll get a quick walk-through the world of data-analysis and data visualization. With the use of examples of data research, conducted by the Utrecht Data School, you'll get introduced to current data practices. Since data research cannot go without critical thinking, The Utrecht Data School developed a Data Ethics Decision Aid (DEDA). DEDA poses data-ethical questions and stimulates discussion and reflection, to guide people during their data projects. Therefore, the second part of the workshop will interactively present DEDA and stress the need for such a tool.

Data Science Day is this year’s edition of the annual IT Day, an initiative of Information and Technology Services (ITS) which has taken place since 2016. Each year, the event focuses on current IT trends and developments impacting education, research and work at Utrecht University. Depending on the theme chosen, the event is either intended for all UU colleagues (and external partners) or for a group of colleagues with a common interest.
