I want to contribute to social safety

We create a socially safe university together. It is therefore important to discuss this and take action in case of inappropriate behaviour. Would you like to learn more about what you can do in unwanted situations or how you can ensure a socially safe study and working environment? Or would you like to work on the subject with your team as a manager? Then there are various possibilities. Read more below.

For students

As a student, you can attend or organise the Active Bystander workshop. In this one-hour workshop, you will be given tools on how to recognise inappropriate behaviour and what you can do to address it. This way, you will never again find yourself at a loss for words when you see someone doing something you don't really think is OK, but doubt whether you should intervene. There are also various training options aimed at discussing consent, wishes and boundaries, such as the Equal Play workshop (Dutch).

Would you like to organise an Active Bystander, Equal Play or other social safety workshop for your study programme or study/student association? Then contact social safety project manager Robin Smeets at r.smeets@uu.nl.

In cooperation with Bestuurlijk Actief, we are also organising a training course on dealing with inappropriate behaviour especially for student administrators and confidential contact persons of study and student associations. Check out their website (in Dutch) for more information

For employees

As an employee or manager, you can attend various workshops and training courses. You can also take a training course via Goodhabitz, and there is a toolkit with work formats/conversation techniques. A complete overview can be found on intranet.
