The Fairtrade Label project has been created in October 2016 by students from Utrecht University with the support of the Green Office. Our ambition? Promote fairtrade consumption on the campus and work together with students, employees and private partners to qualify Utrecht University for the Fairtrade Label.
By buying fairtrade products, we invest in people in developing countries. Productors receive a fair price for their products and work under humane conditions.
The Fairtrade Label is an international label that can be obtained by the organisations and institutions like municipalities or universities that are committed to promote fairtrade products and have achieved to a set of conditions. The Fairtrade Label would be the proof that Utrecht University is actively contributing to a more fair and sustainable production and consumption.
