When it comes to sustainable behaviour, food is one of the first things that come to mind. Worldwide, the food sector has the biggest impact on environmental pollution, and eating is something that every person does multiple times a day. A small change in one’s dietary choices can mean a lot in terms of land and water use, as well as CO2 emissions.
When it comes to CO2 emissions, Utrecht University has formulated the goal to be CO2 neutral in 2030, as part of the strategic plan. In order to reach that goal, policy gradually transitions, making the university more sustainable step by step. For example, Utrecht University aims to reduce waste and fossil fueled mobility. A sustainable product range in the University’s restaurants is part of this transition.
This is why the Green Office and Sodexo are working together to challenge your taste buds while learning more about food and sustainability!
