Vice rectors
Utrecht University cherishes innovative, future-proof education and research of high quality. The vice rectors of Education and Research have an important role in these themes. They support the rector magnificus by representing Utrecht University in national and international networks such as the LERU network and the Coimbra group, amongst other activities. The work of the vice rectors falls under the responsibility of the rector magnificus.
In 2023 the rector, together with vice rectors Manon Kluijtmans, Frank Miedema and the university community, published the book 'The University in Transition'.

We are working on a cultural change, in which education gets the recognition and appreciation it deserves. Education that is supported and developed by our academics in close cooperation with students, colleagues from different disciplines, professional field, support staff and educational experts, because education is a team sport.
Ted Sanders
In addition to being vice rector of Research, I am also chair of the Graduate Committee, which unites the graduate schools. Together, we stand for an ambitious PhD agenda. Through this combination of tasks, I want to further strengthen the focus on the development of young researchers. In addition, I am closely involved in policy-making on research quality.
