The Department of Farm Animal Health plays an important role in the theoretical and practical education provided by the Veterinary Medicine study programme (Bachelor’s and Master’s phases). Some of the important priorities include the health and welfare of individual animals, but also the advancement and monitoring of the health and welfare of herds of animals (including food safety issues) at livestock farms and in the production chain. A thorough insight into the pathophysiologies common to all animals is considered to be an important foundation.

The Department of Farm Animal Health also participates in continuing education for veterinarians in the Netherlands and abroad.
