A sustainable society requires sustainable innovations.

Prof. dr. Marko Hekkert

"A sustainable society requires new products and services that have a much lower environmental impact than the current products and services: for example, renewable energy instead of electricity from coal, or electric cars instead of cars that run on petrol. Despite considerable investments in sustainable innovations, the extent to which we actually apply these investments in our society often falls short of expectations.

Accelerating sustainable innovation processes

We examine the barriers that stand in the way of large-scale applications of sustainable innovations. And analyse the measures that can be taken to remove these barriers. This research helps us gain fundamental insights into the course of sustainable innovation processes and practical solutions for accelerating these processes."
