Honours programme at Geosciences
A Bachelor’s degree programme at the university is both varied and challenging. But what if you want to get even more out of your studies? What if you’re looking to deepen and broaden your knowledge and seize the opportunity to develop your talents in the best possible way? Then it is time to take up the challenge with the Geosciences Honours College!
What will you do?
During your Bachelor’s programme, you will have the opportunity to participate in the Geosciences Honours College. Here you will work with other students from all Geosciences Bachelor’s programmes.
The Honours College offers you the chance to:
- acquire more depth: delve even deeper into your Bachelor’s courses;
- acquire more breadth: dare to venture beyond the bounds of your degree programme;
- further develop yourself: discover and develop your talents and ambitions.
Some of the honours programme activities benefit from a small-scale and interactive approach. Lecturers are able to offer you individual attention, meaning that you become more closely involved with education and research in your faculty. The Geosciences Honours College is offered in English.
The Honours College affords you a great deal of freedom. This means you learn excellent collaborative and organisational skills.
Selection procedure
A selection procedure is in place for the honours programme; applicants are not automatically admitted. We look at your motivation and the grades you got in your final examinations at secondary school and whether you have a demonstrated interest in organising and attending extra study and/or other activities.
Please note: Due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, it's not possible to enrol in the honours programme at the Faculty of Geosciences in September 2020. The first opportunity to enrol is February 2021. You're welcome to attend (online) end-of-term seminar sessions and Geohouse events in the meantime. Please send an email to honours.geo@uu.nl if you're interested!
And then?
If you successfully complete the honours programme, you will receive an honours certificate in addition to your Bachelor’s degree. This improves your chances of being admitted to selective Master’s programmes and enhances your opportunities on the labour market.
