Access us
Would you like to make use of our equipment and facilities? There are a number of ways of gaining access. Use the directory below to find out how you should get in touch with us.
Utrecht University researchers can access our facilities easily, either through our affiliated research groups, or by undergoing training to use our equipment.
If you are a researcher with one of our associated research groups, you can request measurements or training directly from the contact person listed on the "Related Scientific Groups" page.
If you are a Utrecht University Researcher with a non-affiliated research group, get in touch with our facility manager Chris Schneijdenberg for information about training or measurements. Please include information about your research group, sample composition, and scientific question in your email so he can guide you to the right support.
Our facilities are available to external academic researchers through two different routes depending on the type of research you would like to do.
If you require a one-time simple measurement of a sample (eg. a few images of your sample to measure the size or shape), contact the facility manager Chris Schneijdenberg and a microscope operator can be arranged for your session. Please let him know which university and group you work for and a brief description of the expected size and composition of your sample. He will inform you of the possibilities and provide you with pricing information.
For measurements of larger numbers of samples or for the use of complex advanced techniques, there are two options available to you.
- The first is to find a group with related research interests on our "Related Scientific Groups" page and arrange an academic collaboration with the most suitable party.
- The second option is to undergo training on our microscopes by getting in touch with our facility manager Chris Schneijdenberg. You will be provided information on the time and financial commitments involved in undergoing the necessary training. Please let him know which university and group you work for, a brief description of the samples you wish to study, and identify the techniques you would like to learn to use.
Our microscopes are available to commercial parties for a fee. The fee depends on which microscope is needed, the number of hours, and the cost of the microscope operator time. Please contact the facility manager Chris Schneijdenberg for detailed pricing and to set up any necessary agreements. Please include information about the number of samples, expected size and composition of the samples, and the scientific question you hope to answer, so that he can best direct your enquiry within our team of specialists.
