Pay It Forward
Our university seeks solutions to the challenges of today and tomorrow. We are proud to present the four projects of our Passing on 2026 campaign. Your donation makes a big difference and will therefore fully benefit the project of your choice.
1. Contribute to equal opportunities to study in Utrecht
Education is essential to enable new generations to escape poverty, health problems, wars, and climate change. Our society faces major challenges and problems. That is why we need today's students so badly. They are the scientists, innovators, and leaders of tomorrow. Sometimes they need our financial support. That is why we help with our scholarship programme. Even a small scholarship can make a big difference. Show them you care!

2. Hidden art
Artworks conceal stories beneath their layers of paint, such as preparatory drawings and modifications. Using an IRR (infrared reflectography) camera, the UU ArtLab can reveal these underlying layers, which is essential for art historical research and restoration. For example, traces of collaboration or doubt on the part of the artist can be determined. With the purchase of an IRR camera, researchers and students in Utrecht will be able to unravel hidden secrets. Help make this possible!

3. Restoring biodiversity
Dr. Edwin Pos is conducting research in Costa Rica on the restoration of tropical rainforests. The project involves around 10,000 trees planted in different configurations to understand how forests and biodiversity recover and which approach works best. Scientists and students from Utrecht are working together with local authorities to demonstrate that a meadow can become a forest again and biodiversity can return. The results will help to promote nature restoration worldwide. Donate to the preservation of the rainforest.

4. Prevention of child abuse
Child abuse has lifelong consequences, such as anxiety, depression, and health problems. In the Netherlands, there is still no widely accepted preventive approach for children aged 3 to 8, even though early intervention is crucial to prevent lasting damage. Scientists in Utrecht are researching a prevention program that teaches young children to talk about their feelings, secrets, and safety in a safe and playful way. This enables them to identify and prevent child abuse at an earlier stage. Help us to provide these children with early support!

Research on sexual abuse
In every primary school class, there are 1 to 2 children who are victims of sexual abuse. In secondary school, it is even 2 to 4 children per class. Victims often show little out of shame and fear that it will come out. But the damaging effects on their development can be enormous. Dr Iva Bicanic will set up a large, multi-year study on the consequences of sexual abuse in the WKZ Utrecht. With the aim of helping children and young people better in the future.
ANBI
The Utrecht University Fund is registered as an ANBI (Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling). This makes a donation to the fund fiscally beneficial.
