Who can apply and how?
The annual budget of the Ronald van Kempen Human Geography and Spatial Planning Fund is €15.000, to be awarded to one or two members of the academic staff. The scholarship can be used to cover travel, accommodation and (possibly) research costs as well as the salary costs that may be needed to replace the researcher in planned teaching tasks.
Criteria
- The applicant is an employee of the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning (SGPL), Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University;
- The applicant is an early career human geographer or spatial planner (up to 12 years of experience after obtaining a master’s degree, eg. PhD, Post-doc, junior lecturer, assistant professor);
- The experience abroad contributes to academic skill development;
- The experience abroad contributes to education and research at Utrecht University and/or the department SGPL.
Please note that the project should have a starting date within one year after the subsidy application is approved. After the project is completed, the applicant is asked to submit a short report and present the outcomes to the department SGPL. A financial report is required as well.
Submission
The application must be submitted before the deadline via the digital application form. The application deadlines and a link to the application portal can be found on the grant application pages. An application should include the following documents (to be uploaded as attachments):
- Curriculum vitae;
- Project outline (max 1000 words), which indicates contribution of the proposed project to the applicant’s academic career and the relationship to their research/education activities at Utrecht University and/or the department SGPL;
- Letter of support from your supervisor;
- Declaration by a professor (or associate professor) of a foreign institution that they are willing and able to host you during your visit;
- Financial plan.
