Practical technologies and innovations
The Global South Impact Fund aims to support students and researchers who bring practical technologies and innovations to the Global South that really help people move forward.
Such as projects that meet the concept of ‘technological leapfrogging’. Sustainable solutions that go to developing countries in one step, without the negative effects of previous technologies. For example: in telecoms, think of the landline that has been skipped in many countries to go straight to mobile. Or when it comes to sustainability, think of lamps being directly replaced by LED lamps without a phase with incandescent bulbs. These are simple examples, but there are countless applications in developing countries that cry out for technologies that we have available here, but are currently not finding their way.
