Who can apply for a grant?

  • The fund is available for MSc students of the programs Energy Science, Sustainable Development, Sustainable Business & Innovation at Utrecht University.
  • The fund is also available for MSc students of the Joint International Master’s in Sustainable Development (JIMiSD) who choose to write their thesis at Utrecht University. 
  • Funds can be requested for a variety of activities related to MSc thesis or similar research projects that contribute to the energy and resource transition in the global south. The funds are available for those activities that really help to establish lasting collaboration and impact, through high quality research.
  • The project strongly contributes to the energy and resource transition in the global south that aim to have an impact on the ground (e.g. through collaboration with local stakeholders, dissemination, active involvement of decision makers, knowledge/technology transfer, or other strategies that contribute to impact).
  • The fund is aimed at requests/research that cannot be funded otherwise. Applicants will be asked to explain why this is the case in their specific request.
