Nick Dessens

In 2003 Nick Dessens MSc Energy Science and Innovation, started his bachelor Innovation Management. He was lucky to be taught in small groups by inspired and knowledgeable professors and had the opportunity to study abroad several times. He took a minor in Materials Science at the University of Florida and later, during his master's in Energy Science, he studied at the Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa. With his company NIDO he builds biobased houses and with ACCU'T, he works on reusing batteries from old electric cars to reduce the problem of grid congestion.

Ernst Worrell

Prof. dr. Ernst Worrell is Professor of Energy and Raw Materials at the Copernicus Institute for Sustainable Development at Utrecht University. After studying chemistry and obtaining his PhD in Utrecht, he worked on sustainable use of energy and materials in various places around the world. This international experience taught him how indispensable cooperation at national and international level is to be able to change things globally in the field of energy transition. In 2004, he returned to the Netherlands where he worked as a consultant for the European Commission.  Since 2008, Ernst has been a professor at Utrecht University.
