FAQ Fund Portal
The Utrecht University Fund has a Fund Portal where students and researchers can submit grant applications. Throughout the year, there are six application rounds during which different types of grant applications (funding programmes) can be submitted.
At present, it is not yet possible to apply for grants for all our Named Funds via the Fund Portal. Please consult the overview of upcoming application rounds to see which funds are participating in which round(s). More information per Named Fund.
This depends on whether you are a student or researcher and which fund and category you wish to apply for funding from. Please consult the overview of upcoming application rounds to find out when you can apply for your specific grant.
No, you can only submit one application per round.
- Go to the Fund Portal
- Under “Funding Programmes”, select the funding programme for which you wish to apply. The start and end dates indicate the period during which you can submit your application.
- Click on the funding programme you wish to apply for and click on “apply”. If you are using the portal for the first time, an account will be created for you.
- You will receive an automatic email (check your spam folder) to set a password.
- can then log in and find your application under the heading “my applications” and submit it.
You can only create an account by submitting a request. When creating a request, first enter your email address. If the email address is recognised, you will be asked to log in. If the email address is not yet known, an account will automatically be created for you and you will receive an email to set your password. You can then log in and complete your request.
Please note: the account for the portal is separate from your solisID and the other environments in which you log in at the university! This means you will create a new password for the email address you have chosen.
This is an automated email, so please also check your spam folder. Note: Do not click the link directly. Instead, copy the link and paste it into your browser.
We aim to inform you within three weeks after the application round closes. However, this may sometimes take longer due to the different approval steps in the process. For example, the application may remain on the status “in review BAC” for a bit longer if the committee has not yet been able to meet. You will receive an automatic email as soon as your application moves to the next approval step.
Yes, this is possible. The portal opens two to four weeks before the deadline, giving you time to complete your application. You can log in to the portal again later; you will find your application under “My Applications.”
Yes, this is not a problem.
You can log in to the portal and navigate to “My Applications.” There you can find the status of your application. The possible statuses are:
- In progress – you have not yet submitted your application.
- Submitted – you have submitted your application.
- In review UU – we are checking whether your application is complete.
- In review BAC – your application is being reviewed by the Spending Advisory Committee (BAC).
- In review DU – your application is being reviewed by the Director of the University Fund.
- Awarded – your application has been approved. Scroll down to see which requirements you still need to meet in order to receive the funding.
- Rejected – your application has been declined.
- Fully disbursed – the funding has been fully paid out.
- Funding program closed – your application was not submitted before the deadline and has been automatically cancelled.
Use the “Reset password” option on the portal login screen. You will receive an email (also check your spam folder).
Note: Do not click the link directly; instead, copy the link and paste it into your browser. You can then set a new password and log in.
Send an email to ufondsInfo@uu.nl and we will create a reset password email for you manually.
For some Named Funds, you cannot submit an application through the portal. They do not operate with application rounds. This is due to the specific conditions set for the Named Fund.
