Wonder and curiosity have always been among the main factors driving humans to understand the links between physical phenomena and the fundamental laws of physics

The knowledge and insight gained in the process can be used to forecast the evolution of physical systems, and to design and construct new technology (e.g. transistors, materials) that lay the foundation for large scale innovations.

Approaching phenomena from both an observational and theoretical point of view, and being able to reduce complex problems to manageable models, are skills that are especially needed in this field in order to be able to do research and innovate.

Acquiring such skills is the central aim of the Bachelor's and Master's educational programmes in Physics at Utrecht University.
