- Charisma Hehakaya wins Diversity & Inclusion Award
Charisma Hehakaya, PhD candidate at the division Imaging & Oncology of UMC Utrecht, wins the Diversity & Inclusion Award 2023 for her boundless commitment to supporting students who are the first ones in their family to follow an academic study. Diversity Dean Janneke Plantinga voiced the jury’s admiration for Charisma’s great commitment for creating visibility for first generation students.

- 30% Dutch citizens find government texts too complex
According to the ‘Monitor Begrijpelijkheid Overheidstesten’ (Monitor Comprehensibility of Government Texts), at least 30 per cent of the Dutch population has difficulty with government texts. Communications such as letters and emails are difficult to understand due to abstract or unfamiliar words and long sentences. Henk Pander Maat was one of the participating researchers.
