- Microcredentials awarded at Utrecht University
Utrecht University has awarded microcredentials for the first time. Participants of Alfa4all's 'Long Lines in Literature' course were the first to receive it. A microcredential is an additional quality mark that shows what knowledge, competences and skills a student has acquired after following a course. The awarding is therefore a nice step towards gaining legal recognition for short-term education for professionals.

- ERC Consolidator Grants for Faculty of Science researchers
Two Utrecht researchers will receive an ERC Consolidator Grant this year. The European Union awards this grant of 2 million euros on average to researchers who have earned their spurs in science. The Utrecht researchers receiving a grant for their research are both part of the Faculty of Science. Martijn Kool and Tzviya Zeev Ben Mordehai can use the grant to conduct five years of research, together with a research group.

During the Master's Open Day on 10 February, prospective students can find answers to all of their questions about Utrecht University's Master’s degree programmes. The event gives new students an opportunity to experience the atmosphere at the university and become acquainted with its Master's programmes.
