Utrecht University has an international university-wide strategic alliance with a limited number of specially-selected international universities, the Utrecht University Partners (UUPs). It comprises exchanges between researchers and lecturers, participation in fellowship programmes and special chairs for visiting professors.
Utrecht University is an active member of various renowned international research and education networks, such as the League of European Research Universities (LERU) and the Utrecht Network.
The Utrecht Network is an alliance with 32 universities from 28 European countries. The Utrecht Network, in turn, cooperates with the fourteen universities of Mid America Universities International (MAUI) and the seven Australian universities of the Australian-European Network (AEN).
