The Class-Conscious Academics Network aims to improve the representation as well as the experience of first-generation and working-class students and academics in several ways.
Form a community, offering a social platform for students and academics to meet one another, share experiences, build a personal and professional network, and create a stronger sense of belonging at the university.
Enable mentorship for students and early-career academics by connecting them with fellow students and senior academics with shared backgrounds.
Investigate how class impacts academia, regarding students’ experiences at university, career advancement, discrimination and social safety, and knowledge-production.
Educate and raise awareness amongst ourselves and others about class issues in academia through lectures, panels, a reading group, and workshops.
Advocate for policy towards better class representation in academia.
