Renovation of the Trans Complex
The Trans Complex consists of 13 linked addresses on Domplein, Korte Nieuwstraat, Trans and Achter de Dom. The complex shares back gardens with the Academy Building: owning the entire building block is important to properly control use and noise between the Academy Building and the Trans Complex. The building lends itself primarily to office functions.
Improved accessibility, clear routing and structure in the building are important for the renovation. Point of attention here is the horizontal connection between the individual building sections with different storey heights. Improving integral accessibility should also contribute to efficient & functional use in line with (strategic) organisational goals.
Objective
The project contributes to the programme goal of 'Realising efficient and sustainable accommodation' that future-proofs the university's ambitions. The aim is a functional building with an extended lifespan of at least 15 years. The current functionality will guide the building modifications. As the lifespan is extended by at least 15 years, the technical installation will have to be completely renewed. In terms of sustainability, BREEAM-NL In-Use level "Excellent" is the objective. To this end, taking into account the monumental character of the building, the building will be optimally insulated and the air management will be brought up to standard.
Future use as an office function by strategic organisational goals regarding the use of space in offices. Improving the building structure (routing in the complex) increases the findability and divisibility of the working environment. Increasing flexibility in space use and improving the functionality of the office complex, partly due to its location in the Transcluster. In concrete terms, this means A recognisable entrance, using building-specific elements (such as the Greenhouse) and organising routing that contributes to the building-transcending use of space. It should be easily accessible to organise walking flows between different buildings between teachers, staff and visitors. The main relationships are with the future Anna Maria van Schumange building and the Academy Building.
